C:29 growth

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 14, 2008, 7:08 AM
It's been ages (again)

so what has been going on in my life since i last wrote?? well, I'm in the middle of another course at the university, but I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as my previous one, so i may end up dropping this one..it's only a 10 credit class anyways, so it wasn't really going to put me here nor there...

I've also been house hunting...our current landlord has said that he is thinking of selling our house...so that means that we will have to move most likely...the real question is whether to find another rental or to just bite the bullet and lock ourselves into a mortgage for the rest of our lives....neither prospect sounds overly exciting because our landlord hasn't raised the rent in nearly 7 years and therefore finding a new place to rent will automatically put us at about double what we are paying at the moment...(yes rents really have risen that much in 7 years) and buying of course, is a huge step.....and the payments would still be about twice as much, with the exception being that when things go wrong, it will be us who has to pay for them rather than the landlord......but the fact of the matter is, i'm not getting any younger, and if i plan on owning a house ever...well i really ought to get on with it, hadn't i??
So we've been looking at houses, both rentals and for purchase...and we did find a rental that we liked...but really at that much money, we might as well be paying a mortgage..so i'm a bit hesitant.....the other houses we have looked at have either been waaaaay too small (smaller than our already dinky house) or been way out of our budget...it's a good thing that we are not deperate at the moment.....there are so many things wrong with our house, that i wouldn't really want to buy it, because it's going to take a lot to really get it to where we want it as homeowners rather than renters.....but it's starting to look nice compared to the stuff we've been looking at in our price range...i guess we'll just keep looking and hope that when the landlord finally decides to put it on the market, it will be in our price range.....he hasn't put a penny into it since we've lived there, so i shouldn't think that it will be too far out of range....but you never do know.

OH! AND HAPPY NEW YEAR! ( a bit late...but that's par for the course)

Neosynthesis Chronicle 29: Growth

With the start of the new year, we've got a brand new chronicle over at neosynthesis. We wanted something to spur us into the new year and get our creative juices flowing, so we chose "growth" as out theme.....phyisical, mental, spiritual.....growth is an integral part of living...and as part of the theme, neo has grown as well! we have several new members to the art group..so look for new faces and new styles! C29:growth has 33 brand new pieces to tantelize your taste buds, including a massive tapestry collaboration...here are just a few examples of what you'll find inside!

In other news...

I've recently remembered that my scanner does negatives as well...so thought i would try it out....I have a bazillion rolls of black and white film from many many years ago, and even though they are in negative holders, they aren't in the best of shape, and in fact it looks as though i didn't leave them in the stopbath long enough as some of them seem to be exposing still now that they've been out in the light! eek! so i've been spending my weekends scanning all my old negatives to preserve them...so far, i've mostly just done my old photos from the abandoned bfgoodrich factory that we used to hang out in, but it's reminded me how different film is to digital captures, and i actually am really missing film! so perhaps i should go out and buy a bunch of black and white film and do some proper film shooting....if only i had my own darkroom...i'd much rather develop and print it myself....but i'll have to settle for sending it off, i suppose!

Art to be inspired by

Featured artist
when looking through my favourites to pick out some to be featured, every other one that i picked belonged to this peson, so i thought instead of trying to choose, i was just going to have to feature them!
so as a special feature this month, I would like you all to go look at the gallery of Mark Joseph Lape. I have been watching his gallery for some time and every time i look i am blown away by how much he has grown as an artist. Some of you might know him here as ~angelandluci....but if you don't well you should definitely go over there and make his aquaintance! here are a few samplings:

one of my lovely prizes from winning ~AttempteStock's surreal competion was this lovely stamp by *jamie-valentina! feel free to show your support by displaying the stamp!

I love watching for the Chronicles! Great stuff as usual!

The pros and cons of renting and owning can make you crazy. We had the decision made for us when we inherited a house and property. Fortunately we don't pay anything monthly but with 26 acres we also inherited an insane amount or yearly property taxes and upkeep. But I'd rather sink the money into something that I can stay in and make my own than continue paying money into something that will never really be mine! I wish you look in your hunt!

i agree...it would definitely be nice to know that the money being spent is going into something that is ours...and not to mention it would be nice not to have to ask the landlord for every little thing you want to do to the house..
